more culinary adventures

So yesterday i experimented with turkey legs (which incidently are quite inexpensive). I smoked them for 4 hours over apricot wood, then boiled them in sprite and onions for another 30 mins. After that i sprinkled them with salt and garlic pepper and glazed them with a honey dijon mustard mixture and grilled for 15 minutes. They turned out quite nicely with a sweet smokey flavor.

Next i think i need to find some turkey wings and try using them for hot wings.

Oh and while i had the smoker up and running I smoked a pound of ground pork for two hours. going to try it in lasagna with homemade noodles, i think.

Sounds yummy but are you really finding all that work and time worth it? I'd like to know...

It is for me. I find it fulfilling on several different levels.
- Physical: we all got to eat after all
- Financial: It's cheaper then going out all the time
- Creative: I get to experiment and try new things. Plus it's the only artistic medium I can think of that involves all of the senses.
- Academic: It satisfies my need to learn, grow, and keep my mind active.
- Social: It's a way of showing other I care about them and to be appreciated by others.

And for now i have the time. Once i get another job, i'll probably have to scale things back some, But for now, why not?
